What is the class size at Beech Tree House?

Class size is based on the age of the children, size of the classroom, and recommendations made by the State of Indiana and in compliance with our license.

 

Are there times when Beech Tree House is closed?

Beech Tree House is closed eleven days each year:  New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, two days at Thanksgiving, two days at Christmas, and two Professional Days each year (to be announced in the spring). 

 

What is the best way to communicate with center administrators?

Our administrative team is eager to provide information, answer questions, consider suggestions, and address concerns throughout the day.  Parents are welcome to check in with us at the front desk, by phone, or through e-mail.  For those occasions when more time and focus might be warranted, we suggest scheduling an appointment to ensure full attention without interruption be given to the matter.

What is the best approach to communicate with teachers and caregivers at Beech Tree House?

Our lead teachers work 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily with a mid-day break.  We encourage using drop off and pick up times as an opportunity for consistent communication.  All classrooms have a “Parent Information Board” which includes the daily schedule, a weekly lesson plan, and a monthly newsletter specific to the particular class.  Infants and toddlers receive a personal “Mommy and Daddy” daily report and preschool classrooms post a “What We Did Today” description of the day’s happenings.  Each classroom has a telephone and all lead teachers have an e-mail address.

 

What curriculum is used at Beech Tree House?

The Beech Tree House curriculum is academically ambitious and includes language arts, math, social studies, science, health, character development, music, sign language, Spanish, and non-denominational Christian religious education.  Lesson plans are written for each classroom based on the age and developmental level of the children in the class. 

 

What is the religious influence at Beech Tree House?

The Beech Tree House curriculum includes non-denominational Christian religious education with a major focus on loving God and one another.  We respect all life – especially human life beginning at conception and through natural death. Our team aspires to practice living by the nine visible attributes of Christian life known as the Fruits of the Spirit which are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Beech Tree House welcomes children of many faiths and cultures from around the world.  It is our great privilege to learn about their beliefs and customs as they share stories and traditions with us.

What are the hours of operation at Beech Tree House?

Beech Tree House is open year-round from 6:00 a.m. (6:30 for Infants and Toddlers) – 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

 

Is Beech Tree House licensed?

Beech Tree House is fully licensed by the State of Indiana Office of Early Childhood and Out-of-School Learning.  The elementary school division, Curtis Wilson Primary School and Academy, is fully accredited by the Indiana Department of Education. 

 

What meals are served at Beech Tree House?

Beech Tree House provides breakfast, a morning snack, lunch, and an afternoon snack to all children on table food.  Infant and toddler families provide baby food and formula.

 

Are there ever extended hours at Beech Tree House?

In order to allow parents the opportunity to have special adult time, Parent’s Night Out is offered one Friday each month from 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. for children enrolled at Beech Tree House and Curtis Wilson Primary School and Academy and their siblings.  For a nominal fee, a child-friendly dinner, free play of the child’s choice, special activities, games, and an evening snack are offered.

 

Is there a registration fee at Beech Tree House?

A non-refundable one-time (as long as students remain continuously enrolled) registration fee is required to guarantee enrollment in our programs.

 

What are the security measures at Beech Tree House?

Beech Tree House is committed to the safety of our little ones.  For security reasons, our exterior doors are locked and custodial guardians are asked to carry a Beech Tree House ID when dropping off and picking up children from the building.  Any non-custodial guardian picking up a Beech Tree House child will need to stop by the front desk to obtain a Pick-Up-Pass before going to a classroom or playground.

 

What qualifications are required of the staff at Beech Tree House?

When choosing our staff, we look for those with a heart for children and an understanding of child development. More than half our staff members have a degree and/or certificate in child development, education, or school administration.  Each receives a minimum of 21 in-service hours each year through staff meetings, guest speakers, and attending conferences.  All staff members are certified in CPR, First Aid, and Universal Precautions annually.

 

Is there a supply fee at Beech Tree House?

A non-refundable supply fee is due at the time of registration and each March for the following school year. 

 

How is tuition determined at Beech Tree House?

Full tuition with no deductions for absence including holidays, vacations, or illness is due on the first day of attendance each week.  Tuition is based on the age of the child and classroom level.

Is there a waiting list?

Beech Tree House maintains a waiting list for those levels and grades where classes are fully enrolled.  Families are contacted during registration and as openings become available.
