What is the best approach to communicate with teachers and caregivers at Beech Tree House?
Our lead teachers work 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily with a mid-day break. We encourage using drop off and pick up times as an opportunity for consistent communication. Additionally, the center has adopted Tadpoles, an electronic parent communication platform, to communicate daily care, activities, and lessons (often times including photographs) sent by e-mail or through an app. All classrooms have a “Parent Information Board” which includes the daily schedule, a weekly lesson plan, and a monthly newsletter. Each classroom has a telephone and all lead teachers have an e-mail address. Conferences may be scheduled at the request of either the center or family.
What curriculum is used at Beech Tree House?
The curriculum at Beech Tree House Center for Child Development supports the emotional, social, intellectual, physical, and spiritual development of each child. Created by our administration and a team of master teachers, the curriculum provides academically ambitious yet developmentally appropriate activities in the core areas of language arts, math, science, health, social studies, and Biblically based non-denominational Christian religious education. Because of its appeal to various learning styles, our teachers follow the Ausubelian method of organizing curriculum in our toddler and pre-school classrooms. This engaging process incorporates a variety of lessons, activities, games, crafts, projects, and experiments that help develop proficiencies in a specific theme, skill, or concept. Children enjoy music, art, drama, and values education naturally embedded into the Beech Tree House experience. Open areas are provided in our spacious backyard and indoor atrium for large motor skill development and rambunctious play. We extend learning experiences as we welcome guest speakers and performers in addition to off-site field trip adventures.
